<b>Location.</b> The Alden Houston hotel is located in the center of Houston, Texas', central business area and within walking distance of the theater district, George R. Brown Convention Center, Minute Maid Ballpark and the light rail system connecting, travelers to local nightlife and restaurants. The hotel is also within 11 miles of the Houston Hobby Airport. <br><b>Hotel Features.</b> Originally opening in 1924 as a luxury boutique hotel, today the Alden Houston's minimalist lobby features whimsical light fixtures shaped like the San Jacinto Monument and a backlit glass wall mural depicting the Battle of San Jacinto. Award-winning 17 Restaurant on site serves distinctive American cuisine by Chef Ryan Pera, along with a selection of domestic and international wines. Intimate a+ Lounge provides cocktails nightly to the sounds of local DJs. <br><br> Special meetings and events hosted in the hotel include use of indoor and outdoor function space. The Alden Houston offers complimentary wireless Internet access throughout the hotel, cardiovascular fitness equipment with personal televisions on machines and Town Car transportation servicing a three-mile radius. <br><br><b>Guestrooms. </b> The 10-story Alden Houston combines classic architecture with contemporary design in guestrooms overlooking either the city or ballpark. Guestrooms feature minibars, DVD players and flat-screen televisions. In- room spa treatments are available and ample work space featuring ergonomic chairs are added features. Oversized bathrooms with Russian Labrador antique granite-walls and glassed-in showers, as well as premium bedding with Egyptian cotton linens accent guestrooms. <br><br><b>Expert Tip.</b> The Alden Houston's restaurant, 17, is named after the number of railroads that, on the eve of the Civil War, met here, deeming Houston the hub for the Texas railroad system. The recent renovation of this hotel is one of a dozen in downtown Houston pumping life back into the historic area.
<br><b>Pet Policy Update:<br></b> The Alden Houston has new guidelines for their pet program. Only dogs and cats up to 25 pounds are accepted with one animal allowed per room. A five night maximum stay is allowed. The pet must be in a kennel or cage while the guest is not in the room. All rooms with pets must be cleaned daily. A $100 deposit is required which is refundable assuming that nothing is damaged or in need of deep cleaning.<br> Guests will sign and complete "Pet Profiles" to assume responsibility for additional charges should there be damage or cleaning requirements. Additional fees are determined in a case by case evaluation of the severity of the damage or cleaning need. <br> Each guest will receive The Pet Gazette detailing local pet services and nearby parks. A play toy, bed, bowls and food are iinluded. Guest Services offers a complimentary walking service on request. |
